Böker Abalone combines exceptional design with outstanding performance. The die-forged blade of this exceptional straight razor is made of carbon steel hardened to 59-61 HRC. Thanks to its superior properties and excellent edge retention, this carbon steel is the ideal material for premium straight razors. In addition to the classic materials that have defined the renowned Böker straight razors for decades, we are constantly looking for modern and innovative combinations of natural materials that offer a distinctive look or feel and appeal to our customers. Abalone is also known as “white gold”, sea snail or sea ear.
These mollusks live off the coasts of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Mexico and South Africa, attaching themselves to rocks just a few meters below the water's surface. Considered a great delicacy, they were once so highly sought after that they even caused conflicts between gangs. Today, these precious natural products are raised on aquaculture farms. Their beautiful shells, with an almost artificial-looking shimmer, have long been used for decoration, utensils, jewelry, intarsia and mother-of-pearl elements. Using modern production methods, a wafer-thin layer of colorful abalone is applied to a carrier and encased in transparent acrylic. The resulting durable material is ideal for making straight razor handles, enriching the piece with unusual colors and a three-dimensional appearance.
The 6/8" blade of this exceptional singing straight razor features an extremely hollow grind with serration on both sides. The French point of the carbon steel blade perfectly complements the unusual abalone handle. The simple laser engraving is inspired by a historic etched pattern used at the beginning of the 20th century for particularly exquisite Böker straight razors.
The product comes in a frame case and includes a certificate of authenticity.
Warning and Safety Information
Risk of cuts: The most common danger when using knives and blades is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Blade slipping: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the blade to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that may cause injuries.
Injuries due to falling: Knives and blades should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and causing injury.
Blunt blades: Blunt blades pose a greater risk of injury because they require more force and can slip more easily. Blades should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended, such as using it as a lever tool, can damage the blade and lead to accidents.
