This genuine like new military backpack is made from sturdy heavy duty canvas in army green shade. The leather shoulder straps are adjustable and wider on the shoulder for comfortable wearing. The bag is quite big and can hold a lot of your stuff in it, it also has a leather belt and a fabric pocket on one side where you can carry a big water bottle, a tripod or a paper storage tube for example. It closes with a cord on the inside and fastens with a leather strap with metallic buckle on the outside. It has a lot of small leather loops all over, on this loops the military equipment like helmet and tent were attached. 

The authentic Romanian Army backpack is ideal for daily outdoor or urban use. The rucksack is very versatile, unisex and just looks fabulous fashionable for its age. The backpack is just cool and would make a perfect gift for him, for the traveler, for the person who loves hiking, camping and fishing.

CONDITION: This is a military surplus in very good condition, but it is a vintage product, stored for many years, so some inconveniences may occur: insignificant odor, which will disappear with time, traces of rust on metal components, without affecting functionality in any way, variations in color shades or accessories (straps, buckles). At the same time, the production date stamps may be different, visible or less legible, but all the rucksacks were manufactured in the late 1970s or early 1980s. The variations and possible differences can be seen in the pictures.

    Backpack is pretty spacious, fitted enough stuff into it for a 3 day field trip. Only downside is that smell leather has since it was used but that something that can be dealt with. Would recommend. Definetly worth the money.

    These backpacks are well built,and should last for years. The ones I got are almost like new, one had a small rust spot on one of the buckles, and the other has a slightly frayed strap. Overall excellent shape. One thing I don't like is that both of the arm straps have a quick release non-locking attachment at the bottom. This is a quick fix by drilling a hole in the hooks on each arm and a caribiner to hold the two parts together (you can buy caribiners on this site). Overall excellent quality at an excellent price. I recommend highly.

    Roomy backpack but certainly not "like new". This is a military surplus item so some smells and creasing from storage should be expected, of course, but this bag had rusted metal, discolouration, some kind of hardened green sludge where the leather straps met the metal buckles, cracking leather, and even after several washes (with soap, vinegar, and finally vodka) smells strange. The design of the bag itself is very useful — large, lots of straps, super utilitarian — but the description of "like new" is misleading.

    Came NOS(new old stock) in excellent condition. mine though had cotton straps differing from either sets of pictures, but intend to lengthen them to carry a gold pan so no loss it will be an outstanding addition to fun in the gold fields next year.

    Incredibly (deceptively) spacious, and a real beauty. Don't be too quickly tempted by the impeccable retro style and killer price tho, these rucksacks will probably require some thought so you can use them. Read through people's comments for ideas. Those thick leather straps came incredibly twice, had to condition them twice. Probably won't become your go-to in urban settings, as it's quite heavy, and the old school carrying system it has in mid is a real hastle, unless you don't mind looking like a bit of anachronistuc maniac on your grocery runs. You might have to modify it, personally I've opted for cutting the sides of the end keepers so I can get the hook little bets out and in storage, and have made my peace with the dangly bits.

    High quality pack made with heavy canvas and thick leather. Can clip to belt loops on a webbing belt easily or to itself. One of the two I own I hammered the clips together to make a standard backpack strap. The second, this one, I use with a belt to distribute the weight.

    I'm not adding a photo of the received item as it looks exactly like in the photos from the description. The rucksack seems unused and has all of its original attachments. Even the cord seems to be unchanged. I'm very impressed. Recommended for everyone who doesn't mind a heavier but aesthetically stunning pack!

    There are several models of this backpack. I made sure to choose the one with more leather and was pleased when I received one with all leathers straps. Leather is thick and has dried in storage. You need to condition the leather before use!! Dry leather wears faster and cracks easier. Canvas is thick and feels durable. Lots of straps to add more stuff outside the backpack with. This is a great find if you enjoy the retro style. Manufacture year on mine is 1976. It is however quite heavy and larger than you would think (40 liters or so). Also do keep in mind that the shoulder straps are not attached all the time to the underside of the rucksack. You attach the straps with rings around hooks under the backpack.

    I had been wanting this backpack for a long time, and when I got it, I was surprised to se that it was even better than what I had hoped for. It is a really solid made backpack with real canvas, not the thin type. All in all, I am really pleased with this pack.

    I ordered 2 of these and they were in generally really greatcondition with the exception of the 2nd bag which had a cut on the lower portion of the shoulder strap right where it contacts the bag hook at the bottom of the bag. This is of great concern as the cut is deep enough that with use and weight could break at the most unfortunate time in the field. This ow requires me to add a strip of leather and stiching to reinforce that area.

    Very satisfied with the product. It's high high quality. Very well made and almost good as new. The canvass is durable and the leather is thick. The leather in the rucksack I received is somehow dry and very hard, maybe due to its age and storage. But just a little conditioning and it will be nice again. Thank you very much.

    The one I received was in unissued condition, with all the leather straps included. There was no long-storage musty smell, just a leather smell that may eventually disappear. All leather parts were quite dry, so three applications of leather grease were necessary. It is larger than it looks in the pictures, perfect size for a day hike bag, a bit too large for urban use. The shoulder straps are on the thin side, so big weights may be an issue. I had to bend the steel hooks on the bottom of the bag, so that the shoulder straps are now permanently fixed. I also removed the similar hooks on the shoulder straps as I found no use for them. Overall, a beautiful, vintage-looking bag; using it is a fashion statement.

    This is a great rucksack. Hard wearing and very useful. Only disappointment was it came with nylon straps and I was expecting leather. Small point but one worth checking before you buy if this is important. Otherwise fantastic.

    I see now they are offering two different versions of these packs, one with leather, one with nylon straps. I received the leather one, which I'm glad about since it matches the set I ordered. The pack is in excellent condition, leather a little dry but no cracks anywhere. Took leather conditioner readily and soaked it up!     Very pleased with my Romanian Army rucksack. Very heavy duty canvas, leather and steel make this rucksack nearly indestructible. I think the leather straps are about 4-5mm thick. Shipping to the UK took about a week. Will happily shop here again.
